After months of optimization, I've finally cracked a stable M1 scalping strategy for XAUUSD. Key settings:

  • Lot size: 0.01 per $1000
  • TP: 8 pips, SL: 12 pips
  • Trading hours: 8:00-16:00 GMT only (avoid Asian session)
  • Spread filter: max 25 points
  • Uses custom RSI divergence + volume confirmation

Backtest results from Jan-Oct 2024: 68% win rate, profit factor 1.85, max DD 14.2%. Running live on IC Markets for 3 weeks, currently up $1,247 on $10k account.

Anyone else trading Gold on M1? What's your approach to handling the volatility spikes during news events?

Great results! I'm also scalping XAUUSD but on M5. The 8 pip TP seems tight for M1 - do you find that you're getting stopped out often during spread widening? I use 12 pip TP minimum to account for spread fluctuation.

Good point! Yes, spread widening is an issue. That's why I added the 25-point spread filter - the EA simply won't trade if spread exceeds that. During normal hours (London session), IC Markets keeps XAUUSD spread around 15-20 points, so 8 pips works. But you're right, 12 pips would be safer for brokers with wider spreads.

What VPS are you using? I tried XAUUSD scalping but latency was killing my results. Need something under 10ms to broker server.

I'm using Beeks VPS in London (LD4 datacenter). Latency to IC Markets is 0.8ms average. Totally worth it for scalping - made the difference between profitable and break-even for me. They have a 14-day trial if you want to test.

Is it a trading strategy or an Expert Advisor (EA)?

How do I open a position?

“Great results, especially the 68% win rate. Are you using an EA for execution or trading manually?”

我已经用了Quantum Queen MT5大约三周了,到目前为止非常满意。EA选择性交易,等待市场状况良好时再开多单,这赋予其稳定且专业的感觉。此外,开发者支持快速且乐于助人,这也是一大优点。

Great results! 68% win rate with 1.85 profit factor on M1 XAUUSD is solid — especially over 10 months of backtest data.

A few things caught my attention:

  1. SL/TP Ratio Your TP is 8 pips and SL is 12 pips — that's a 1:0.67 RR ratio, which is below 1:1. With 68% win rate this still works mathematically, but one bad streak can hit hard. Have you tested widening TP to 12-15 pips to improve the ratio without dropping win rate significantly?

  2. News Event Handling You mentioned avoiding news — but do you use a hard time-based exit or a spread filter to auto-close before high-impact events? On IC Markets, the spread on XAUUSD can spike to 50-80 points during NFP or FOMC. Your 25-point spread filter should catch most of it, but curious how you handle trades already open when news hits.

  3. RSI Divergence on M1 This is interesting. M1 divergence signals on XAUUSD tend to give a lot of false positives due to noise. How many candles do you look back to confirm the divergence? And is the volume confirmation from real volume or tick volume?

  4. Live vs Backtest Gap 3 weeks live is still early — backtest showed 14.2% max DD but live conditions (slippage, requotes, spread variance) can push this higher. Are you tracking slippage per trade on IC Markets?

I am also running an M1 EA on XAUUSD with ATR-based SL and EMA trend filter on M15. My approach is slightly different — I use M15 trend direction as a gate before any M1 entry, which reduced my false signals significantly.

Would be interested to know your exact RSI settings and how you define divergence in your system.
